The Newcastle Schools ICT Competition 2002, was launched at the Connect 2 Learning ICT Event 2002 more info, held at St. James' Park on 22nd January 2002.

		Focus
The focus of the competition was;
THE CREATIVE USE OF ICT TO SUPPORT LITERACY OR NUMERACY

		Categories
The competition was broken in to the following categories;

			Foundation stage
			KS 1 & 2
			KS 3 & 4
			Special Education Needs (S.E.N.)

Eligibility

Open to all Newcastle maintained schools, nurseries and community nurseries ONE entry per school.

Entry to be produced entirely by the school. ICT consultant support may not be used.

Submission

Must be submitted electronically and be ICT based, although supporting documentation may be included.

Prizes

Multi-media PC for each category winner

Smartboard and projector for overall winner

Timescales

			22nd February
			Full details provided to all schools and nurseries
			22nd March
			Expressions of interest returned by participating schools
			26th April
			Closing Date for entries
			10th June
			Winning entries announced
			24th June
			Equipment installed in schools

Judging

The judging panel included both LEA and DfES representatives.

The Winners of the Newcastle Schools ICT Competition 2002 were anounced at a presentation day on Monday 20th May 2002, at St. James' Park.
